DAPI is a blue fluorescent DNA stain that can permeate cells at high concentrations.DAPI firmly binds to the A-T-rich region in DNA to form a fluorescent complex. When combined with DNA, it preferentially stains ds-DNA and has a high quantum yield (φf = 0.92).
